What to Expect & What to Bring

Entering a drug and alcohol treatment centre can be intimidating. Fear not! We want you to get well, rekindle old passions, have fun, keep busy, try new things, and find your true North. Here’s a general breakdown of what happens from the moment you step off the plane.

  • Our staff will meet you at the airport.
  • When you arrive at the rehabilitation centre, you’ll be settled into your room and your baggage checked for any prohibited items or substances
  • At the next opportunity during the working day you will be introduced to the in-house community and staff, and given a thorough run-down of the rules.
  • On weekdays, you’ll wake, enjoy breakfast at 7:30am, and begin with meditation at 8am before the day’s program begins at 8:30am.
  • While staying with us, you will have the opportunity to enjoy yoga, fitness training, a massage, or one of a number of extra curricular activities that we offer.
  • Treatments will include psychoeducation, group and individual work, AA/NA meetings, spirituality workshops, guided meditation, yoga, massage and  supplementary therapies.
  • Depending on the day, participate in a community meeting and/or in-house meeting, or on days when we have excursions you may visit the beach or try rafting, cycle through the rice paddies, the list goes on.
  • You will receive a medical check-up within 24 hours of arrival and any medical needs will be discussed with you and plan prepared to address these with the help of qualified medical staff (note: depending on the doctors recommendations, additional cost may be involved if any in-patient, detoxification or specialised tests, or therapies are required – we will discuss these with you before these costs are incurred).
  • Breakfast is served at 7:30am, Lunch is served at 12.30, and dinner at 6pm or 6.30pm.

What to bring

  • comfortable clothing for 7-10 days

  • cigarettes, if you smoke (we do not condone smoking, however, there are designated smoking locations at the treatment facility. If you would like to quit smoking, we offer support for this.)

What NOT to bring

The following items are not allowed at the treatment centre. If you do bring them, they will be discarded, stored safely or shipped home.

  • electronics, including laptops, cell phones, tablets, digital cameras and MP3 players
  • non-prescription medications
  • non-recovery-related reading materials
  • revealing clothing
  • clothing with offensive sayings or references to drugs or alcohol
  • products containing alcohol (mouthwash, hair gel)
  • valuables (jewellery, watches)
  • electronic cigarettes or vaping apparatus or any liquid used for these devices
